Fines for employers for undeclared workers - also affects self-employed

Post by PhotoLady »

About time they started to clamp down on it.... so, if you're employed ensure your SI deductions are being credited to your account. If not, you need to know why and get something done about it, quickly!

If there are no SI deductions being taken from your salary - you should be worried. Go and get it sorted!

Some phrases taken from the article:
New legislation came into force on Friday, which seeks to clamp down on undeclared work by imposing heavy fines on employers starting at €500 for each undeclared worker and increasing by €500 each month, it was announced by the minister of labour Zeta Emilianidou.
It was explained that fines amount to €500 per undeclared worker, increasing by €500 each month. At the same time, a legal presumption was introduced into the legislation, which will consider that the employment was made six months before the date of the infringement – this means that the fine will amount to €3,500.
For self-employed workers, the law provides an administrative fine of €200, with a maximum fine of €5,000.
