Paphos Sunsets
Paphos Sunsets
The Paphos regional board of tourism along with other stakeholders are undertaking a programme to promote sunsets in the region as the ‘most majestic’ in Cyprus, to both locals and visitors. So I thought I would dig through my old holiday snaps of the Island, and give them a hand...

Re: Paphos Sunsets
Although sunsets in Paphos are fabulous year round, I find them particularly special in winter. I guess lower humidity increases clarity and cloud in the sky adds drama.

Difficult to add something to your beautiful pics Dominic. I like the "Red Rain" most.

This pic of my album, a Double Sun is my favorite - it is not the color but the two Suns appearing as background of Ktima.

Re: Paphos Sunsets
The more sunsets the better Max. What is that double sunset one though? I looked up double sunsets on google and all I could find were examples where the sun set then came back again. You appear to have two suns. Given where the reflection lies, I would say the first sun is either an optical illusion or a camera trick. But is there a proper scientific explanation?

Re: Paphos Sunsets
The pic is from 2011 and I got a scientific explanation when I posted it on another forum. Unfortunately I forgot what it is exactly but it is extremely rare phenomenon. It has something to do with reflexion and humidity. I will search now to find some better explanation. Perhaps we have some expert members on this forumDominic wrote: ↑Mon May 29, 2017 8:54 am The more sunsets the better Max. What is that double sunset one though? Beautiful photos, a Cypriot sunset takes some beating.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

I don't have any of my own Paphos sunset photos.... We were usually back home in Limassol before it went dark

Here's a nice one, taken by my friend Sue, from Riccos Beach (same boozy session as my avatar, LOL!)

Not all mine, Dominic! Sue's OH Chris (my good friend and then workmate on Fire Alarms) and I were quaffing the large Carsbergs, while Sue was happy with the house red wine.
They are both still regular twice-yearly visitors to Paphos, having bought a time-share on the ToK Paradise Kings development. They love Lighthouse Beach and also love to get around and explore. They're fortunate in this respect, as Sue is an Avis manageress here in Luton, so they get a free Avis Suzuki Grand Vitara 4x4 waiting for them at PFO each time

They used to frequent the Queen Vic (until Dalma and Simon sold up and returned to UK). Their new nightly watering hole is the Black Velvet, with Chris on the John Smiths. If you're a BV regular, watch out for them in September- a really nice couple...

This one was taken back in March near the Louis Phaethon Beach Club Hotel.

Two stunning shots, thanks, Miyagi! Isn't the evening western sky mind-blowingly amazing at times? No artist (except possibly Turner, with his Fighting Temerare painting in 1838) could replicate these sunset marvels of Mother Nature, and dare I say, God the creator?
Of all the photos posted so far in this thread, I do have to award 10 out of 10 for the one taken by Lloyd's son... It is so full of life, with four kids happy and dancing, sillohetted in the foreground, with the sun setting behind them. It really enriched my day- thanks Lloyd...
