Mice catchers and the head of a state department were scrambling last week after three civil servants refused to go to work after discovering droppings all around their office....

When I read this story, I couldn't help feeling that the civil servants wanted the day off so sprinkled some mouse droppings about.
Would you refuse to work in an office that had a mouse possibly running about?

Re: Mouse brings civil service office to a standstill
We used to have a mouse in our house in Cyprus and we had mice here in UK for a short time too - until we worked out how they were getting inside and blocked their entry.
I would rather see half a dozen mice running around inside than a single cockroach. Something about Cyprus that I don't miss at all....

I remember the digs I lived in after I left Uni. I worked out that a mouse lived under the kitchen sink. After a bit of thought I decided that I had a pet mouse. I would occasionally see it watching TV from the kitchen. I never fed him but while that mouse was there I was never bothered by cats, so it was win win.

Re: Mouse brings civil service office to a standstill
The only times we had a mouse in the house, the cat was to blame! We found that a few "Little Nipper" traps, baited with a corner of KitKat (mice much prefer chocolate to cheese
), and hidden behind the kitchen kickboards, worked wonders.
Two amusing incidents occurred during our "mouse in the house" period.
Firstly, the washing machine stopped working properly. OH, being a bit technical, decided to have a look at the control board and instantly discovered the problem. Mr Mouse had managed to short himself out across the board...
The other incident was when we had a friend staying - she was not too fond of cats, but put up with our small female. Until the day she (the friend, not the cat) walked into the bathroom to find a mouse practically waving at her from behind the loo.... Turns out the friend was even less fond of mice than cats

And the moral of this story is - don't have a cat AND a cat flap. (We even had a rabbit dragged in through the cat flap one dinner time!)

LOL, just giggling at the bit about the rabbit and the cat flap and thought I would share this with you...
Apparently, the other weekend our next door neighbour got up in the early hours as it was coming light to take a pee. As he crossed the hallway his foot touched something soft, so thinking it was one of their dogs' toys he pushed it away with his foot - only to see it start to move away on its own.
It turned out that Levi, their big grey and white cat had brought one of the baby rabbits in through the cat flap from off the golf course at the end of the street....
Next thing after the visit to the loo, said neighbour hot footed out the door to the end of the cul de sac to pop the rabbit back through the fencing one the edge of the golf course - dressed only in his boxer shorts
Funnily enough, it turns out I was awake around that very same time and was contemplating getting up to go outside with my camera to take photos of the dawn breaking but decided it would probably be a bit on the chilly side and watched it through the conservatory windows instead.
I could have had some great photos if I'd got out of bed
