Chelsea Win Premiership Title
There is no Sports Section on Paphos Life so I am impeding on the General Page.
My team (in good times and bad and yes there have been some) have tonight won the Premiership Title and oh my what a cliff hanger. Great game from both sides but WE did it.
Congratulations Chelsea and thank you Mr Conte for the result and your faith in the team.

Is there anything you don't like to have a moan about, WHL?

Yes congratulations to Chelsea for becoming Champions, but let us not forget that before the Russians dirty money, they were playing in front of 15000, knuckle dragging fans, Ive more respect for the way Leicester City won it last season, then a club like Chelsea who have bought success ..along with the thousands of plastic fans who are suddenly Chelsea fans.

Fair enough. But there is an awful lot of dodgy money floating around in sport. You might have your work cut out if you intend policing it.

Very true Dominic...but were Abramovich is involved he wrote the book on money laundering/bribery etc etc its well documented...so in my book nothing special about Chelseas success when your owner spends 2 billion of dodgy money.

This plastic fan has been a Chelsea supporter all my adult life (I am now 85 by birth somewhere around 35 in the head) and if you read my post properly you will see I did say a supporter through bad times and good times. I was also pleased to see Leicester win the title last year - willing them on in fact but then my attitude to sport is for the sport and give credit where credit is due. You Sir do not have to watch as it clearly offends your sensibilities so let those of us who enjoy such pleasure do so in peace. Thank you.

At the very least, WHL, you should reveal who you support.

Thank you for that link. I did watch the match live often through my fingers I admit - my team have this habit at crucial times to wait until the last minute to do the business. They have absolutely no idea what I go through. My hero was Drogba when he was playing for Chelsea but the others are a great bunch in my opinion.

I didn't say you by name, I said the thousands, who suddenly became Chelsea fans after the Russian turned up..my sensibilities only get offended when plastic fans think football only started when the Premiership started.Rita Sherry wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2017 10:05 amWHLWHL wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2017 9:28 am Yes congratulations to Chelsea for becoming Champions, but let us not forget that before the Russians dirty money, they were playing in front of 15000, knuckle dragging fans, Ive more respect for the way Leicester City won it last season, then a club like Chelsea who have bought success ..along with the thousands of plastic fans who are suddenly Chelsea fans.

I think that the username WHL clearly states who he supports.
I am in agreement with him.
I do not feel that this is the correct place for such posting.
Chelsea have their own fans forum, that is the right venue. To start bragging on a PAPHOS forum is a tad irrelevant, IMO.
By posting the way you did, ie MY TEAM, you invite derogatory statements from opposing supporters.
Beating West Brom by ONE goal in the 92nd minute is hardly worthy of a champion club.

Personally I see no harm in it, providing it doesn't get out of hand. After all, people posted nice comments about Lincoln after their stonking cup run and promotion.William Morris wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2017 11:21 am I think that the username WHL clearly states who he supports.

And as to it not being relevent on a PAPHOS forum, it clearly is relevent. A proportion of UK expats like football, so it is certainly relevent to them. You could just as easily say the same when talking about general interest TV shows.
Now, if there were pages of posts a day in the general forum, then I would simply create a Sports section, and a TV section, but or the time being at least, given the small number of sports postings, they are fine where they are.

One of my favourite phrases - who decided that there was a 'right way' to play football?
Is tip-tap sideways stuff better than long ball forwards?

Had Dominic considered my post inappropriate for the forum he would surely have informed me of the fact and deleted it which he is quite at liberty to do now if he so wishes.William Morris wrote: ↑Sat May 13, 2017 11:21 am I think that the username WHL clearly states who he supports.

I was not "bragging" as you put it I was elated and it is fair to say that at least opposing teams' managements have had the decency to accept the position as indeed have many opposing players and fans (the latter doubtless being very disappointed) when expressing their congratulations.
As for the one goal well I suggest you look at the seasons record in the round rather than one particular match given they still had two more to play had it been a draw.
If you enjoy sport (all of it) as much as I do you would appreciate, as would WHL and others, the skill of the participants whether it be team sport or individual merit rather than decrying someones success. I was always taught to appreciate success wherever it could be found and one of the unfortunate and regrettable aspects of today are fans, supporters et al who cannot see beyond their own interest and that opinion includes some Chelsea supporters.
