Here's the traditional John Lewis one...

The Guardian was slagging it off for being too old fashioned, so it must be doing something right.

And Sainsburys features the BFG!

Speaking of Sainsburys, if you are after a home delivery over the Christmas period you should book your slot now. You will be able to change the contents of your cart at a later date, but the available delivery slots are going quickly. I do my Dad's Sainsbury's shop every week for him online. It's one way of guaranteeing a regular conversation with him! He tells me via WhatsApp what he wants and I order it online. Modern technology rightly gets a fair amount of criticism, but it makes things like that possible too, so it isn't all bad.

It has to be the Boots Christmas ad for me.

As for Christmas delivery slots, as a Tesco customer with a delivery subscription, I was able to book a slot sooner than customers without. Got up at 5.45 to log on to Tesco, ahead of the 6.am opening time. Waited until 6.35, yeah, my turn, wrong! the screen froze, and I was unable to make any progress at all. Contacted Tesco later to ask for advice, the answer was a brusque, yes it happens every year, you'll just have to try again on the 11th, the 'free for all' time slots.
