Nasty fire stopped just meters before it reached church...

Two days ago I watched a wild fire in the far distance of my place with a lot of smoke and was wondering why fire fighting aircrafts, from Paphos airport came into action only hours later...

The fire stopped just some meters before it could destroy the beautiful chapel of Agios Nikolaos from 16th century but destroyed large amounts of old olive trees in the wider area.

There was a small fire in Polemi at about the same time too. Us and a lot of neighbours were in the field putting it out. It is amazing how quickly they spread.
