Oh my God. I feel sorry for the Labour Party, and their sane MPs. This is what happens when you let the grass root activists have a vote in leadership elections. Nice one Miliband.

I can, she has risen to the challenge and will make a strong PM, who will get the best deal possible for the UK...people,judge her on her performance as Home Secretary, which I do not believe is fair...she was still "working" for someone else...now she is in charge and can develop the party they way she would like...and she will....she is not the best of a bad bunch....she stands heads above anyone else...she will do well.

It's not hard to stand heads above everyone else when the competition are midgets. She was an abject failure as Home Secretary and will be the same as Prime Minister. Putting aside your excuses; she made a total mess of her own making in the Home Office and no doubt there will be more to come. God help our country.

I don't know how you can say that. As Home Sec and as PM, so far, she has not shown any strength, only bluster and vacillation, changing her mind as often as her necklaces. Words are meaningless. If she is not the best of a bad bunch, as you state, let's have the best (not that I can think of any current politician who is the best!)

I sadly believe the PM purely called this GE solely for political gain...considering how far ahead the Tories were in the opinion polls. She already had a mandate from parliament. Stating that Parliament was divided whilst the country was united, is in my opinion, a lie of humongous proportions.
We tend to forget that 2 countries out of the 4 that make up the UK, voted to remain, & that 15million eligible voters, for whatever reason, chose not to, or couldn't vote.
As a remainer, I accepted the vote, though still believe I made the right decision, only time will tell, I also thought that out of the bunch available, she was the preferred option.
In calling this GE, she has gone down in my opinion for political opportunism, In a true democracy we NEED a strong opposition,
Trying to wipe out any decent, is therefore, not in the best interest of our country...only the Tory parties.

May was holding 'The Corbyn Card' and knew it was likely to expire before the GE if she waited until 2020...

So she has played it now to maximise the benefit to her party from it.

Can I just check Dominic? Are you saying that the activists in the Labour party (i.e. the members) shouldn't have a say in who their leader is to be? That is what democracy is all about isn't it?
If that is you view, who do you think should decide the Labour leader?
