Trump
Sterling has now dropped over 200 points since Trump made his announcements, of course this is the time I need to bring currency over , I think I will send Trump the bill for the money it will cost me.

Why would he care? If he is doing what he is doing for the benefit of the US, why would he care about the affect it has on you?

Re: Trump
The USA has a $1.2 Trillion trade deficit with the world that means they are buying more than they sell to the tune of $1.2 Trillion. The reasons are, other countries have applied tariffs on goods from the USA and still expect to sell their goods to the USA.
To balance this Trump is saying they want balanced trade, because just now the USA is subsidising some of the countries who sell to the USA, who won't accept goods from the USA. The USA trade gap is nearly half as big as the UK national debt.
Trump is keeping election promises made to his country, that’s more than can be said of most governments around the world who are now complaining. If handled correctly, it could be a wonderful Brexit bonus for the UK with free trade agreements with the U.S.A. and at long last the EU.

No they haven't. I don't know about cars but the UK got a 10% tariff because it wasn't in the EU.

According to the UK’s ONS the UK reported a total trade surplus with the USA of £71.4 billion in 2023, however the USA’s BEA reported a surplus £14.5 billion approx $11.6 with the UK for the same period. The greatest difference appears in service trade, the US reports exporting $4.8 billion more in services to the UK while the UK claims to export £70 billion more to the US.
