Knee Surgery..

Post by trevnhil »

My daughter has the opportunity of having keyhole knee surgery in Paphos. In particular, she needs a tear in her Meniscus knee tendon repairing and other debris taking out.
Has anyone in the group had this done and can tell me some details.
How long in hospital?
How mobile when leaving the hospital.
How long is recovery time ie walking with crutches or a stick..
Any other details would be appreciated, but this is keyhole surgery.
If you would rather PM me then that is fine

I had my 4th keyhole operation at the Blue cross hospital 3 years ago today.
I was taken to the hospital at 6 am and the op started at 8am, I was given a lumber injection to numb me from the waist down.
It only took about 45 mins to an hour then I was back in my room for the rest of the day and was sent home after the anesthetic wore off.
I was sent home about 7.30 that night,
Next day a friend went to the chemist to get my meds.
Hope this helps.
Mp you my number call me if you wish.

Paul, thank you, yes it does help.. But it was after you got home ie the following days and week or weeks that I am also very interested in. The enquiry is for my daughter who 'May' be coming for the operation in a month or two's time.
I was wondering if and when she would be able to travel back to the UK..
I have not received a pm yet

Thanks again..

After I got the med's I was up and about the following day at home, it was about a month after the surgery when I felt better.
About 4 days later I was driving my car!
You are looking at a month to six weeks recovery.
It would be best to ask the doctor about travelling after the operation.

Meniscus tears are tricky I’m just recovering from one from last March. I was told by a physio that a repair isn’t always a success and that I definitely didn’t require a knee replacement but I don’t have debris every person is different

Wow... That is a long time for recovery. My daughter will be coming to Paphos for the operation and of course, is planning to fly back to the UK.
The tricky bit is deciding when to book the return flight. Returning to work, will have to be sorted out after that..
