BROADBAND

Post by TandC »

I have seen a number of properties in Cyprus with what appear to be small “satellite”dishes on the roof. I have been led to believe that these are receivers for Broadband which eliminates the need for a land line. Does anyone have experience of these dishes and if so is it good or bad and who are the “suppliers” and costs

I use Ecotech, https://www.ecotech.com.cy/, they are a very good company In the past 7 years i have had no technical issues with them at all.
I get 30mbs for 30 euros per month, but you have to pay for installation that includes the dish and modem/router.
The only issues are if there is heavy rain you can lose or get a weaker signal, that is where direct phone line connection is better.

We use Ecotech too. For our village they are much, much better than Cyta. If you are considering broadband you should also see if fiber is available in the area you are, as that can be a game changer.

We have used Fusion IT for probably 10 yrs now, small dish on the roof can’t remember the speed just now but watch TV surf the net and connects the CCTV no problems even in heavy rain. never had a fault in all those years, £25 Euro a month. 8-)
I started off with nothing and have most of it left !

We started very many years ago with Holitec but after a few service issues we swapped to Netcom who we have been with since 2017
Prices are on their website

You can have Cyta wifi without a phone line I pay Euro 40 for 200MBS and you can turn it off for up to 6 months a year.

Yes, Holitec is still doing Broadband, 20 years this month.

We tend to do more fibre to the premises as it is so much more reliable than any wireless system and according to CYTA are the largest in the Paphos area. We do still do wireless, but it is slowly becoming redundant as fibre is rolled out to more locations.

You can disconnect the fibre for 180 days per year, with a small fee to cover the line.

100Mbps starts at 25 euros per month.
