Photovoltaic & EAC
Photovoltaic & EAC
Good Day
Can anyone advise what if the latest information regards applications to EAC for the Photovoltaic Systems to return power to the Grid
Some time back we asked EAC , and they advise the maximum system through their scheme was 4KW .
But we understand there have been some changes , but we don't seem to be able to find out any information
could anyone advise or direct us to the correct site for information
Thanks
Les

Re: Photovoltaic & EAC
If you are connected single-phase (2 wires come to your house) than the maximum is 4 kWp photo-voltaic installation.Oakland wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 9:29 am Good Day

Many people avoid the costs for a 3-phase connection, however in this case the maximum PV EAC allows at the moment is 10 kWp.
If there is 3-phase very near to your premises, than the costs to change from single phase to 3-phase are not that high.

Good Day Max
Thank you for the prompt reply and information .
We have already a 3 Phase supply connected to our house , and we were hoping through the EAC scheme to have an 8 KW Photovoltaic System installed , but as I mentioned we cant find out if 8 KW is now permissible under their scheme and where to apply and have it installed .
Thanks

My suggestion is that you phone Green Air at Paphos and talk to Andreas 26 941 555. You can also visit the office for an appointment with Christos, the owner, for all your questions. Green Air is one of the leading PV installers in Cyprus with a lot of experience in photo-voltaics and one of the first one in Cyprus since 15 years.
They will do all the work necessary from application to EAC until finish the job.
Here their banner on the Paphos Life forum:

We had panels fitted about 3 months ago and got hooked up immediately, previous electric bill 250e latest one using panels 36e, supplier did all paper work, we just visited the electric office once to sign some papers

We are located in larnaca, we used Bioland energy as our neighbour used them before us and recommended them, 4kw , we didn't use the scheme, cost about six grand , but we had an email this week from the government re grant , so our 1500e grant should be with us soon, taking the final cost to us at 4500e, as i said they did everything including putting the application for the grant, very happy with them, but others on here will give you more recommendations, good luck.
Re: Photovoltaic & EAC
Are you looking at the PV for all arrangement? = if so then you might find the RES page helpfulOakland wrote: ↑Sat Dec 14, 2024 9:29 am Good Day

Re: Photovoltaic & EAC
I can highly reccomend Greenair. Yannis, who was in charge of our instalation is university trained and, when I last met him, was lecturing part time at the university. They use the latest technology and optimisers to get the best out of your system, which some firms don't. They did all of the paperwork for us, and we didn't even have to go to the EAC offices for anything.
Make an appontment to see Christos, the owner or Andreas.
We have a 5kwh system. We are here for most of the year and heat our pool for most of the winter. We have a solar pump so don't use electric from the mains for our swimming pool pump. At the beginning of this winter, we had a surplus of 10,000 Kwh, which we had accumulated over 3 years. At present we are heating the house and pool for around €10 per week. Our summer bills for 2 months, with aircon running in living areas during the day and bedroom at night, is around €40, instead of the €300 we used to be bill for.
We didn't have a grant, but our system has paid for itself in 5 years.

Good Day
Thanks to everyone who has contributed and given their advise
We have decided to drop the idea of going through the EAC Scheme , and look towards quotations from
reputable companies for the installation , as it would appear , there is extensive forms
and paperwork for EHC and the Max is 4kw at present .
I appreciate you response

As I mentioned it already in my post above, the maximum installation size for 3-phase is 10 kWp.
Andreas @ Green Air just confirmed that when I asked him.

Yep.. Les you mentioned in an earlier post that you had a 3 phase supply so Max is right the max yo can have is a 10K system.cyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 3:26 pmOakland wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 1:48 pm Good Day

there is a 90% rule which tends to get ignored... or at least I havent heard of being enforced.
whatever size inverter you decide on I would suggest looking into oversizing it. there are many benfits to oversizing but for some reason not many of the installers recomend it or even suggest it here in cyprus.

Re: Photovoltaic & EAC
I agree to that. Fact is, if the sun is on the edge of a cloud your PV system will produce 20-30% more electricity for a short time, specially when the outdoor temperature is low. So any inverter will be under stress and perhaps shut off when this situation appears. Many installers are not aware of that phenomena. ( Larger inverters are not much more expensive either.mark4007 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2024 5:27 amcyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 3:26 pmOakland wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 1:48 pm Good Day
