What kind of lifestyle are they thinking of having if they have to ask that question?

It's not April 1st is it?
1,000 a week equates to 52,000 a year! A lot more than most Brits here I would suggest.

Assuming that you mean 1000 euors per month, I would have thought that they would not get residency on that amount.
If they are as you say middle aged, and so not retired they will not have an S1 certificate. One of the requirements of immigration would be for them to have private medical insurance as they would not be eligible to get into GESY, .
Private Medical insurance is not cheap.

Are you meaning Uncle " that a couple should be able to live comfortable here on 1,000 euros per week.
Re: Survive on 1,000euros a week in Cyprus?
That´s about 4 times the minimum wage. So it should be enough to live on very comfortably (unless they have very high expenses like health insurance etc.).

Most couples I know have a UK state pension and/or a private pension (or in some cases 2-3) and they are very comfortable with an income of €2,500 - €4,000 per month and most of them pay rent.
Others are content with living on the UK state pension.
Depends on lifestyle choices.

Re: Survive on 1,000euros a week in Cyprus?
I don't have a choice. I have to live on around a thousand euros a month and feed a dog and a cat.

Indeed, as the cost of living goes up so rapidly it does become more difficult for those of us on a limited income.
Re: Survive on 1,000euros a week in Cyprus?
I would be astonished if an income like that could not sustain a comfortable lifestyle. Our pension income is about €3500 a month, and we live like kings and we generally save about €600 a month. We are covered by GESY which means no expensive health insurance, which makes a difference.

3500 euros a month,saving 600 euros a month,no expensive health insurance,gosh aren't you doing well,
