27th October sees the implementation of the winter Daylight Saving Hour across European Union member-states, as watches will be set back from 0400 to 0300 am, marking the end of the 2024 summer time.

In a relevant statement, the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry points to a directive in the Official Gazette dated July 9, 2021, which established Daylight Saving Hour in Cyprus.

The EU policy aims, as noted, to secure an additional hour of daylight during winter, both for pupils and employees.

Winter time will last through to the last weekend of March.

I just wish that the time was left at GMT.

The reason for British Summer Time is no longer needed.

Especially as the school day and working day starts so early in the morning here in Cyprus.

It all depends on whether you want your additional hour in the morning, or the afternoon.

GMT is GMT, and doesn't need to be altered as I see it, not in the UK at least.

Northern Cyprus Reintroduces DST
By Anne Buckle. Published 19-Oct-2017

Northern Cyprus has decided to set their clocks back 1 hour for Daylight Saving Time (DST) on October 29 after a year without DST changes.

The decision by the Northern Cyprus government comes after protests from Turkish Cypriot teachers, reports the Cyprus Mail.

In December last year, 2 teenage girls and a bus driver were killed on their way to school in the dark, sparking demonstrations across the Mediterranean island.

Yes exactly, it should stay at GMT in the UK, if left at BST, it would leave children in the dark going to school.

GMT should be left alone.
