Paphos to Coral Bay - Insta View
Paphos to Coral Bay - Insta View
A couple of days ago we published a 360 film of a drive from Paphos to Coral Bay. We have also made two more films of the journey, as an experiment. The first is a fixed view version of the 360 film. This means that I have preselected the camera position so that it can par around to look up side roads etc. This is especially noticable when driving along the track by Coral Bay Beach, as you get to see the beach in all its glory. Tomorrow I will publish the same route filmed at the same time with the usual GoPro camera. This will have the fixed-ahead view you normally get.
My question is simple: which do you prefer? The GoPro has the better resolution. However, the fixed 360 view shows more information, and is filmed using the latest Insta X4 camera, so it isn't too far behind the goPro in terms of picture quality.
I would love to hear your opinions on the two film types.

Re: Paphos to Coral Bay - Insta View
Thanks for the feedback. The GoPro version is out tonight, and after that I shall act accordingly. I've still got a few films to process using the GoPro, but going forwards the Insta X4 will definitely be used more.

Here's the GoPro version:

The GoPro is indeed of great quality, but still I do like the 360 more.

Hmmmmm
Unfortunately, both have proven popular, going on Youtube and FB comments. And the 360 flat version made a number of people sea-sick. Also, and this surprises me, but 40% of the viewers are watching the film on a big TV. In that instance the GoPro version has a significantly better picture.
I think what I might do is always do a 4K version, and when the subject matter dictate it, do a flat version as well. I can then publish both at the first time, but only publicise the GoPro version. In the film, I can mention the flat version and provide a link.
I will also try doing a hybrid, of mostly GoPro with a few flat scenes thrown in.
