Retiral Age for Women in Cyprus
Retiral Age for Women in Cyprus
Hi Folks,
My husband receives an OAP from Cyprus in addition to his UK pension and he was able to claim that from age 65. However, I am not due to receive mine until aged 66 in the UK. Can any of you tell me are the rules the same in Cyprus as the UK? Ie, Will I need to reach age 66 before claiming mine.
We are both resident in the UK but paid into the Cypriot system for several years.

Maggie, it seems a very long time since I heard your dulcet tones on this forum; are you okay?
I'm sorry to be totally at a loss to answer your question but if it helps, which it probably won't, my pension is paid into my Swiss bank account and according to the Swiss regulations.
All the very best from Brian, whoever he might be,

Hi Brian
Yes, long time no speak however, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your recent recollections. Keep them coming.
I have just recently had a total hip replacement so, ready to give it laldy at the dancing again.
. . . . Well, maybe some gentle gardening instead.
Anyway, we still have a live bank account with BoC in Paphos and my pension will eventually be paid into it as they made it almost impossible for my Husband's to be paid into a UK account.
Problem there is when they want to do the 3 yearly checks! What a chew!
All the very best to you also Sir. X

Lots of fabulous and hilarious conversations held between us all in the past. If either of you are still in touch with Lloyd will you please pass on big slobbery kisses from me please.
Norv, promise I will dance with you 'virtually' to Mr Bojangles with my new hip. . . . . .and Louise , it was a positively balmy 10 degrees Celsius in Inverness today and I have a beautiful wee vase of tulips sitting opposite me right now, we could sing 'virtually' Tulips from Amsterdam.

Re: Retiral Age for Women in Cyprus
The retirement age for women in Cyprus is 65 years old. You must apply before your 65th Birthday & have paid into the system for 15 years, to claim a Cypriot pension.
Re: Retiral Age for Women in Cyprus
Thank you Chichi.
However, we did not live in Cyprus for fifteen years and my husband still qualified for a pension - albeit a small one?
I now have a contact at the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance so I'm sure they will clarify.
Again, thanks for your reply.

Re: Retiral Age for Women in Cyprus
I have just gone down this road & received a letter confirming the above. Good luck.
Re: Retiral Age for Women in Cyprus
When you receive your UK state pension you will be able to apply for your Cyprus pension, using the years you have paid NI contributions in the UK to top up the missing years of Social Insurance payments to qualify you for the Cyprus pension which requires a minimum of 15 years SI payments.
I was offered this when I applied for the UK state pension by DWP.

I am very privileged. The third shot down shows the little stool I have had to put next to my office chair for her to sit on.
In the mornings she insists on some quality time with her Daddy.

Re: Retiral Age for Women in Cyprus
Hi Chichi,
I will let you know how I get on.
On advice from the Social Insurance in Nicosia this afternoon, I have had to ask the UK pension service today to send a P2000 and P5000 form to the Cypriot department in Nicosia. I did this online later in the afternoon and then they should contact me directly. I have just dived into the deep dark woods of all things pension!
Kind Regards to you.

I paid into both the UK system as well as the Cypriot one as we rented out our house in the UK. Our situation was probably more complicated than most but we bent over backwards to make sure we were not breaking any rules. The fella in Nicosia today didn't see a problem with me applying for my Cypriot pension from this year even though I will still be employed by the NHS until next March (2025) when I will receive my UK pension. We will see?
