New annoying popup
New annoying popup
You might get a new-one-off annoying popup around about now, asking for your consent. This is autogenerated by Google in response to the latest batch of EU legislation designed to irritate us all and grow accustomed to not reading the text in agreements.
Soon it will be rolled out onto every site you use in the EU. I just happened to act on the email quickly.
In reality nothing has changed. Just another button to click.

Re: New annoying popup
It’s extremely annoying, there is no reject all (that I could find) I went to reject individually, but gave up after 5 wasted minutes, there are a multitude of companies to reject.
Is this a permanent feature of the site Dominic?

Re: New annoying popup
This is so annoying I have to consent every time.
Tried to clear it all but to no avail
Hope it will disappear soon.

Re: New annoying popup
It should only appear once.
If you find it annoying, the bad news is that it will be rolled out to all (European / EU)* sites over the next few months.
* not sure which

Re: New annoying popup
I worked out how to turn it off again. Be forewarned though that this is going to be rolled out across the European internet later in the year.

Re: New annoying popup
Google have changed their message. It now reads the following:
Beginning January 16, 2024, Google will require all publishers serving ads to EEA and UK users to use a Google-certified Consent Management Platform (CMP)
So you have until the beginning of 2024. The popup will remain turned off until then.

Not had it here in sunny UK, but I do use Firefox browser with the 'I don't care about cookies' add on, so maybe that helps?

This is EU law, and will be coming to all websites in the next few days.

Re: New annoying popup
If it's EU law, why will it affect the UK?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Dominic
I like the site and would like to continue liking it.
But I value my privacy and I am afraid, that I will have to consider whether i continue.
I have not came across this yet in any other sites I use
