Driving in Jordan
Driving in Jordan
Hi. We are planning to hire a car on a trip to Jordan. Does anyone know if we need International Drivers Licenses? Thanks
Re: Driving in Jordan
Yes, I should think you will need an international driving license. But before you do-this, have you checked the British Govt's Foreign & Commonwealth travel advice for Jordan for-the current situation there?
Certainly when we went there, all be it a few years ago, the advice was to use a car driven by a reputable Jordanian driver. Or alternatively sign up for a proper escorted tour which included visits to the important sites, biblical or archaeological, meals and decent hotels. Our small tour bus had both a driver and an armed escort.
In fact we enjoyed the holiday, seeing a lot more than we probably would have
on our own.
But the armed guard was there for a reason, our security.

Thankyou for your help. We’ve decided to book taxis instead of driving. It will be easier and, as you say, safer.

It's a brilliant place to visit but I am not sure I would fancy driving there. Good call to organise a driver, they'll take you all the best spots without any hassle. Don't forget the entry visa, last time we went it cost approx 50 euros payable at the airport.
