Coastal path to Vardas Beach

Post by Cujimmy »

Its a few years since I've walked from St George Beach to Vardas Beach. I think I remember that it was necessary to go up on the main road just before Vardas beach. Is this still the case, or is it now possible to make the trip wholly along the coastal path, without going up onto the main road? And the route after Kotsia beach (Sandy Beach) was very rough and stony; is it the same or is this now a proper path? We are hoping to lunch at Vardas Beach Restaurant on an upcoming visit.

The area between Sandy Beach and Vardas Restaurant does not have a proper path.In your shoes I would go up to the new Kissonerga Coast Path and walk that, before retiring to Vardas Restaurant for a bite to eat. For more info on the Kissonerga Coast Path, see here:

Yes,its a beautiful and spectacular coastline, it's as yet fairly undeveloped, though there are a few villas and some small hotels along the way. It's very good pathway, but it's very exposed and there is little shade or shelter in inclement weather. It's also quite hilly. We found it a very pleasant walk in good weather when its isn't too hot!
