My darling wife had to renew her UK passport recently. We filled in the form online and then took the required photograph. It was rejected four or five times, and then Ann put in the comments box that it was the best photograph she could do. It was then accepted.
Twenty days later her new passport arrived, and a couple of days later she received her old passport.
All pretty smooth and efficient - just in case anybody has a renewal pending.
