Power cuts how frequent and where?

The posts on the topic of the induction hob part 2, got me thinking .. How frequent are power cuts and where do they occur?

We havent experienced many .. perhaps one or two power cuts, lasting a few hours at most, in the last couple of years.. Perhaps we have been lucky.

I wonder if anyone knows of a publicly available register of these events or can others share their experiences? Be interesting to know if there is a common factor as to where power cuts are more likely to occur.

Wevdof course have power cuts here in Polemi. They fall into at least two categories. One is when there is a problem somewhere with the supply lines.. This can happen at any time and for different reasons. Violent Thunderstorms are one reason, and the cuts can be for an undetermined time.

At other times there can be planned power cuts to the electricity when the 'linemen' are working on the supply wires.. These cuts are usually between 8-15 am to 1-15 pm, but they may not last all that time.

Happily, where we are in the centre of the island, unforeseen power cuts have been very rare (touch wood) over the last few years. I can only speak from memory, but I believe that we may have had two or 3 cuts in the last five years. Of course, we see maybe one power cut per year where we have not been warned beforehand.The length of the cut is usually very short.

Chloraka seems to have a very stable electricity supply…………touch wood!
Outages are rare and seldom last long.
Villages in the hills may have more.

Over in the East hardly any at all, when you think of how many tourists there are coming over swelling the population, then a word of thanks to the power workers is in order.

I am with you on that Dee, i cant remember the last power cut in the village.

We've just had a 45min power cut in Peyia.

Peyia seems to have more than that, we ha e had 3 in the last 2 days, 1 to 2 hours in length.

Are you near a construction site in Peyia? It's my experience that you are more likely to get power cuts if that is going on in your immediate area,

I dont think so, not that near anyway, in the sea caves area
