Roof Pump won't stop running

Post by kansas »

Our pump is working fine except that it hasn't stopped for the last however long. We noticed it a while ago but then it went quiet. Today, though, it's on all of the time and stops only when we turn it off.

We have had a leak in the shower room toiler but we have turned off the supply to the toilet so that shouldn't be a problem. We also turned off both outlets to the pump so it could no longer actively pump water but was still running.

Any clues, and/or the name of an experienced plumber close to Anarita.

Many thanks in advance for any advice.....

Sounds like the pressure switch is faulty, we use James Hennessy 99804813. 8-)
I started off with nothing and have most of it left !

It’s also possible you have a leak somewhere. We had exactly the same thing a couple of years ago due to a faulty part in the cistern of one of the loos, so the loo was being constantly topped up - and the water pumps are very sensitive to the slightest demand for water.

There will be a pressure tank on the roof, if it has a leak the pump will run continuously, you should however see water coming off the roof.

Thanks all. Luckily we checked the roof yesterday and there's no water. However, the leaky loo may have been a contributory factor. We'll book a plumber......
