Memories of mudslides... Statos, and its nearby sister, Agios Fotios, were evacuated decades ago, the residents forced to flee monumental land shifts brought on by excessive rainfall. They were rehoused in a new village called Statos Agios-Fotios. You can find it just up the hill, and it is a nice place to visit.
The original villages still remain, inhabited by a couple of - I presume - farmers, but with churches that are maintained to this day.
You can get to Statos via the main Panagia road. It also features in our first Road Trip eBook, which is well worth getting from Amazon.
But if you can't drive there, at least you can now sit back and enjoy a bird's eye view of this beautiful, lonely location.

Re: Relaxing Cyprus - Statos
Only with the drone views one can see how big the village is, amazing. Thank you for the nice video. It is a pity that one could not see the old Summer Residence of Archbishop Makarios on top of the village....
