B7 Roadworks Trundle On...

Post by Dominic »

Last monday the B7 was closed above Giolou as the final section of the ongoing repairs required full access to the road. Scheduled to take 11 days, we think they will have their work cut out if they are to finish on time.

This is the latest update I have seen - 15 November is the proposed finishing date

'According to the announcement of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, the Department of Public Works and the Paphos District Engineer's Office, the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road past the village of Giolo from its junction with the Stroumbi-Kathekas road to the junction with the road to Simou in the Kouyukkos area will remain closed until Tuesday, November 15, due to work'.

Using Google Translate from this article dated 26 October:

They need to take enough time to get everything right. From the photo of these roads, it looks as if they should also stabilize all slopes both above and below these roads. There are even signs of a small (recent?) landslip. Which shows what will probably happen when we have a heavy rainfall if this isn't addressed.

I think the storms probably gave them a foretaste and they realised that they needed to do a bit more.
