Suggestions for Cypriot village stopover

Post by Suetal »

Hi
I would be grateful for any suggestions for a stayover in a traditional Cypriot hotel in a village preferably not too far from Paphos, have stayed in Kakopetria, which was lovely and would like a similar sort of place.
Thanking you in advance

Wouldn't want to make any comment about the hotel, but there's absolutely nothing to see or do in Lasa Village. It's very quiet!

Ambelikos Hotel in Potamatissa foothills of Troodos

We stayed there with friends a few years back with Daily Deals. All rooms are slightly different from each other.

I'm on my phone at the moment so can only give a link to my photos from our stay.

The Apokryfo in Lofou is lovely but rather pricey ......Lofou is a traditional village small .....some old properties have been renovated others still crumbling, it's great to meander around on foot .....the Apokryfo will give you a map.....good taverna and walks.......

Try Agrotourism places. Try Vasa near Omodhos, Vavla, Tres Elies, lots of places in Platres, and yes the Ambelikos.

But Lasa does have some smashing walks in the surrounding countryside! And Fyti village (just up the road) has a couple of authentic Cypriot family-run tavernas offering real value for money home cooking, not to mention a very interesting Folk Art Museum...

Cheers- AL :)

You are more than welcome, Suetal !!

Wherever you decide to stay, do ENJOY and make the most of your time there, please!
After a one week stay in Lasa village (and visiting nearby villages during your stay), I reckon you would return to the UK feeling like 'honourary' Cypriots, as I have, about 34 times in my life..

Cheers- and enjoy your holiday! AL :)

Hi PaphosAL
Lasa Village Heights Hotel appeals to me, can you tell me can we walk into Fyti village for the taverna/s for our evening meal and some drinks?
Thanks

It is a 2km walk from Lasa Heights Hotel to the centre of Fyti. The first bit into Lasa Village is uphill, but after that the walk along the road is flat and you can get some good views of Evretou Dam. There's also a seated picnic area about halfway along if you need to take a breather. But sadly there is now only one taverna that I know of in Fyti and not sure how late it stays open!

We stayed at the Lofou Tavern a couple of years ago for Christmas. Their accommodation consists of 4 or 5 traditional houses converted into studios complete with full kitchen, fridge/freezer, washing machine, en suite, log fire,TV etc. Their Sunday meze lunch is fantastic, you have to book in advance as it's very popular with Cypriots from Limassol. In fact we were the only Brits there. The village is very traditional and there are some good walks around the area. We loved it.

Ahhh! Just remembered another one which local Paphos ex-pats used and enjoyed regularly for a night or more away, up in them thar hills above PFO. The 'Spring of Life' on the left, just after pasing Amargeti village on the main road. Great value, good grub, nice friendly ambience, beautiful rambling countryside around, peace and quiet or good socialising if you want...

About a 20 to 30 minute drive on decent roads from K. Paphos (with some glorious scenery én-route in both directions). And Amargeti itself is very interesting to visit, a typical Cypriot village with a couple of coffee shops, with the locals each suspciously eyeing the other ones across the road, LOL!

Cheers- AL
