Postcard From Ayia Napa and Protaras

Once a year we spend a week in the East of the Island, visiting Ayia Napa, Protaras and the surrounding area. We always enjoy our visit, though it is nice to come back to our beloved Polemi. There is a lot more to the East than sandy beaches and partying. This is a selection of some of the sights we saw.

We used to visit Ayia Napa out of season like in January. Very nice and quiet. Lovely area.

We've always much preferred the rugged coastline on the east coast and had we not needed to work when we moved over to Cyprus in March 2004, it would have been around Cape Greko rather than on the western outskirts of Limassol.

I've stood on the point there over that natural rock bridge many years ago - it's blocked off (of a fashion) from allowing people to access it, as it was then. There's a crack running from top through to the bottom above the gap below.

If we ever win the Cash Register daily radio phone call, most likely it's the area we would sink some money into a second home. We can live in hope

Cape Greco is quite small, especially when compared to the Akamas.

The whole of the coastline on the east is quite rugged with lots of little coves.

I spent many years visiting before we eventually moved to Cyprus and had my own information website and the domain name of Cyprus4Holidays.

A bolt hole is what we would look for, but anywhere that isn't in the middle of Ayia Napa would suffice. I remember it when The Square was just that... No banging night clubs back in the early 80s.
