Ladies and Gentlemen, there you have it. Only a week after we publish a blog with a 360 virtual tour of the establishment, and it is sold.
If our tours can help shift a hunk of concrete like this, think what they can do for your property!

Anyone has to be brave or mad to buy a hotel, and spend millions renovating it, in this uncertain times.

Historic Berengaria hotel’s revamp to cost €35 million

A dream will come true in mountainous Prodromos now that the historic but long-neglected Berengaria hotel’s revamp kicks off at the estimated cost of €35 million.
The Berengaria Luxury Boutique Hotel’s main characteristic is that it will be a listed hotel with all modern amenities thanks to bbf Group and Thanos Hotels & Resorts – the group’s consultants.
Beregaria was built in 1930 in Prodromos, the highest village in Cyprus at 1400m above sea level. It covers an area of 26,520 m2 and it’s built of stone and concrete.
The main building contains 80 rooms and the northeast part of the building includes a 200m2 swimming pool and a restaurant.
The hotel took its name from Queen Berengaria who was the wife of King Richard Lionheart.
It is also known as ‘The Hotel of The Kings’ because it used to be famous for attracting famous guests which some of them were Pharouk, The King of Egypt and the president of Israel, Ezer Vaisman.

About time. Its a fabulous location and above the clouds on some days. I remember visiting a house in the village some years ago and looking down on the hotel thinking "if only I had the money". Ah well.
Re: Berengaria Hotel in Prodromos sold to Cypriot investor
I wonder if the village will get more visitors when it is a high end Hotel than when it was a "haunted" ruin?

I quite enjoyed my time wandering around it... Think it was April or May 2013.

It's in a beautiful location, but over the years the building has been vandalised, as graffiti on the walls showed. I certainly felt that it was haunted and felt uncomfortable wandering around the huge empty building and the neglected old swimming pool.
I'm glad that at last it has been sold and hope that the new buyer has deep enough pockets and can indeed restore and modernise it and turn it into a luxurious hotel again.

One thing that struck us both when we went round it, was how small the pool was.
Assuming when it was first built, pools were not the main concern but now they appear to be the mainstay of a holiday for the majority of people.
I'm wondering just how much additional development will be undertaken by the time the project comes to completion.
Looking forward to seeing the updates.

Thing is, once you get out of the pool it will be bloody cold for a lot of the year.
