Mmmm,if your reading this you probably have some Avios points, intending to use them in the future.I have been told ( down at the pub of course ) that they actually do expire
Thats if not used after three years.
A Google search says they do expire
" Your Avios stay with you as long as you collect, spend, purchase or share at least one Avios every 36 months — any longer and your Avios will expire and be removed, so remember to take action before those three years are up. There are lots of simple ways to ensure you'll never lose the Avios you collect."
Back in the day, we used to use the original Cyprus airways to go back to the UK alot, so we amassed a few points with them, got an email from them telling us we had two free tickets , fantastic said wife and me, we then saw that our free tickets were for Damascas, right in the middle of troubles going on there with Israel etc, we declined

Spot on Dominic, if I remember rightly, Hezbollah were kidnapping westerners at that time, problem is I doubt my kids would of paid any ransom. for their mum no problem, for me no chance
Probably not of a great deal of use for those who are fully resident in Paphos but Avios points can be converted to Nectar points.( 4 Avios = 5 Nectar)
Nectar is predominately Sainsbury/Argos but can be used at some other UK retailers.
The Avios homepage also shows that points can also be used to fund hotel stays.
