You can now book EJ flights for up to 8th May 2023 - how do you think they can have any idea as to how many staff they will be able to employ in 11 months time?

In a word, yes.
No flight leaving the UK means there's no flight to return passengers at the other end.
Bags not being unloaded in a timely manner upon returning to UK all has a knock on effect, passengers not being able to get off flights as not enough staff to operate the airbridges or assistance passengers puts the flight schedule behind for the aircraft heading to the next destination.
Flight crew has to be there 2hrs before the flight too so they can end up out of hours, if no standby crews at the time or within the space required to hit the flight slot = flight cancellation.
At Manchester a couple of weekends ago, the Security Check staff completely blanked several flight crew who also needed to be processed.
Rather than push their way through, the crews let frustrated passengers go ahead in order to avoid any more upset.
It was shambolic but there are many brand new staff only now grasping the ropes as they perform the job whilst still green to the pitfalls and what to look out for.
Coming back from Spain, a small airport with fully functioning and staff confident in their job was a whole different aspect.
Polite, unflappable as items were discovered in bags that shouldn't have been inside but put into the trays. Removed and checked with a smile in the blink of an eye.
Just those small things make a huge difference to the time it takes to move large numbers of passengers - in a situation where timing is paramount.
At Manchester on arrival, the border control on a midweek lunchtime was well coordinated and bags already on the carousel as we came down the escalators.
Passing through T2 departure check-in hall heading to the railway station was like a ghost town in comparison to the cattle market that met us as we reached them 11 days earlier.
This has also been fed back by passengers arriving at Manchester for holidays earlier today.
Best to avoid weekend departures may be a solution wherever possible but nothing is set in stone when it comes to air travel.
There will always be a couple of flights with hiccups on most days, we just don't hear about them.

Photo Lady, Air travel at present sounds like a lottery! Can you give an educated guess as to how long it may take for an airline like EasyJet to get back to more normal operations?
Am booked to travel Paphos- Bristol, next month. Will need Special Assistance.
Pls answer by pm if nec.

There's no sign of normality approaching as I see it right now. Each day produces different scenes at different airports.
An article appeared earlier this evening from the Cyprus Mail that Cyprus airports are now feeling the brunt of it too.
Indeed, it's a lottery with some airports on repeat.
Keep an eye on arrivals and departures at your end to see if there's any kind of pattern. School holidays haven't started yet so anything can happen.
Again today, people on some of the groups I follow have said Manchester T3 and T2 were quieter than they expected but again, it's midweek. Whereas the Manchester Evening News online were showing big queues.
All depends on the airline, but early morning flights from UK still seem to fare the worst. We tend to avoid those in any event and have been lucky with the three trips we've taken since November last year.
We shall see what the next couple of days brings out in the press.

BA made this announcement earlier today
https://travelweekly.co.uk/news/air/ba- ... nce-policy
Not sure if they think the end of the mess is in sight or basically passing the buck squarely back on the passenger to be fully insured.

That BA thing is nothing to do with the airport delays.

An update here on TUI and Jet2 (mainly related to Birmingham and Manchester airports) but sounds like recruitment is being ramped up.
