I think I know the company you mean. The one in Larnaca is worse than the one in Paphos too. The trick is to arrive back with the car in plenty of time for your flight, and refuse to pay their excess. They won't budge until the van arrives with the next load of customers from the airport. Then they will do anything to get you out of the way.

They rely on you arriving with limited time.

TripAdvisor had some interesting comments about them:

I think that the main reason why the UK hire wanted to charge me Such a high excess was because I arrived with previously arranged hire can insurance with a specialist UK company. So I was able to refuse their own driving insurance which was horrendously expensive. But they could still demand a huge deposit to cover them for any accidental damage.. however, in the event I returned the car to their Gatwick hire car base, without a scratch!
I made sure that their rep at this place signed me off! This was readily agreed.

If you want to know why WHL’s post was deleted you will have to ask him. He deleted It, not me. I presume he did so because he thought twice about potentially recommending such a company, but as I said, you will have to ask him.

I am telling you here because The Pit is closed for a refurb.

As Dominic says, I deleted the name of the rental company, because to be fair to them, I was not posting on my own personal experience, rather on what I had read about them,

Last August I had a hire car in the UK and took out separate cover with https://www.worldwideinsure.com/car-hire-insurance.htm.

It only cost me £42.35 for 10 days cover.

Worth looking at Paul.
