Low carb diet... from a Doctor's perspective...
One can find hundreds of videos on the net about diets and many are misleading for various reasons....
Today this one jumped up when I watched yoga exercises on YouTube and I found it very interesting, specially concerning fruit sugar which leads to fatty liver an more. Further interesting that low carb does not mean to be extremely low to get good results. (<130 gr/day) which is easy for everybody to achieve, I think!
So if you have 30 minutes spare time and want to loose weight and more, watch that video... (this guy does not want to sell anything, it is pure
scientific literature).

Interesting for me that there was not a single reply to this post and video so far. Perhaps most of the people could not be bothered to watch this video,
because they are happy with their weight or health...? At least for me it was good to get some information about the amount of carbs I am consuming everyday and how many fruits I am eating. As I am doing intermittent fasting (18 hours window no food, 6 hours low carbs,) my carbohydrate intake is perhaps too extreme (low) at my age group and not beneficial....?

It's probably because low-carb diets have been around since the 18th century and Atkins has been popular since 1972... People already know about this stuff. The problem with all these gimmicky diets is that the weight loss effect is temporary and sticking to them forever isn't realistic (and that's also true with intermittent fasting, as a new study shows). As Wikipedia puts it:cyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 24, 2022 8:24 am Interesting for me that there was not a single reply to this post and video so far. I don't know if the video addresses this, but fibre is protective against the effects of fructose. Eat as much fruit as you like - most people don't get enough. A major problem with low-carb diets is that they also restrict fibre intake. It has been repeatedly found that in the long-term, all diets with the same calorific value perform the same for weight loss, except for the one differentiating factor of how well people can faithfully follow the dietary programme.
The best dietary advice is to eat a balanced diet and to stop eating before you're full.

Low Carb Keto or Carnivore diets work, and you can also reverse type 2 diabetes...

Correct Maverick, but not only T2D. There are many more benefits from this diet, specially low carb in combination with intermittent fasting like:
Inflammation, Brain Fog, Heart Disease, risk of Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Cancer, Immune Function, Longevity... to mention but a few.

You shouldn't be spreading unscientific information about serious illnesses that you found on YouTube. If you want to lose weight in a healthy, scientifically supported way, there is good advice here. This is the BDA's advice on the best diet for those with type 2 diabetes - they recommend the Mediterranean-style diet or equivalent.cyprusmax47 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 8:32 amCorrect Maverick, but not only T2D. Absolutely, ten thousand percent correct. Equally unscientific, "a little of what you fancy does you good"! Is a lot nearer the truth because the body knows what components of your diet are missing and, also, which ones are far too generous.wantoosoon wrote: ↑Mon Apr 25, 2022 11:12 am You shouldn't be spreading unscientific information about serious illnesses that you found on YouTube.
I have a personal problem, which I won't go in to any detail, that, basically, many foods are unattractive to me. Instinctively, for example, I am now eating less meat but I am still loving my juicy very rare steak but only 80-100 g of it. Put a normally sized piece of beef in front of me and I would send it back. OTOH, proportionally my consumption of pasta with a cheese sauce is slightly higher.
At my peak, I was distinctly overweight at 93 kg. Without any conscious effort my weight slowly dropped to about 85 kg and I was like that for several years, not significantly obese for my for my 183 centimetres but certainly overweight. Following three thoracic spinal fractures (not compressions but bone destruction), I lost about 19 cm and concomitantly, my weight is down to a steady 69 kg.
I do not recommend my method of losing weight from 93 kg to 69 kg!

Best doctors' advice over the years I have ever had is 'Listen to your body'.
