Licensing registration for self catering holiday lets

Post by graham43 »

I submitted an application for registration for self catering holiday letting at the beginning of December. A message appeared at the end of the on line process confirming that the application had been received. I’ve not heard anything since nor has there been a request for the fee payment. I’d be really grateful to hear from anyone who has successfully completed the process or who is currently submitting an application.

Many thanks-Graham

I've been exchanging emails with mchankas at visitcyprus dot com who has been most helpful.

There was a discussion on the Eastern forum a while ago - will see if I can find it ....

Hi Graham, I submitted an application at the end of November which was originally rejected due to the Ministry not being able to read the building permit. I have since re-submitted and they advised me that when the application was accepted they would send me a JCC link to pay the 222 euros.I am still waiting and I will probably chase them up in the first week back in the New Year.
Looking at VRBO for rental villas near us, I can only see one so far that quotes a licence number.
Technically it is an offence to advertise your villa after the 1st January without a licence number but I can't believe that they will take action if you can prove you have an application pending.

Thanks for all your helpful replies. Just hope this isn’t going to turn into another title deeds saga.

Let’s hope for a better 2022 in every respect. - Graham

Hi

I am awaiting my Cyprus Tax number to complete.

I have been told that it has been extended to 2023… is this correct?

Regards

Absolutely typical, we got our certificate a month ago. So having spent 222 euros plus using our conveyancing solicitor to get a copy of our building permit (they wouldn't accept a copy of our deeds), they change their mind...............

Registration completed early in February We found the process reasonably straightforward but not surprised that the deadline has been put back. It seems to happen whenever there’s a degree of bureaucracy involved in implementing new legislation.
We’re now embroiled in trying to install a net metering photovoltaic system and finding it difficult to understand why the government has introduced a regulation whereby new systems can now only support 90% of the previous year’s usage. Electricity usage over the last two years for those of us who do not reside permanently in Cyprus has been seriously reduced because of the restrictions that the Covid pandemic imposed on travel to and from Cyprus. I would have thought that the government should be encouraging home owners to invest in renewable energy.

I went to the tax office. That was an experience. The lady had not heard of the CTO regulation. I also had to go across the road abs wait in long queue at the copy shop, for a photocopy of my passport. The tax office appears it to have a copier!

I got the impression few had tried to register as a UK resident abs taxpayer
