We went to the Limassol Mall this morning (Jumbo, MacDonalds, small Ikea outlet). We left the highway and turned right at the roundabout, down past MacDonalds and then turned right into the car park as we've done for the last 15 years or so.
There were several police officers milling around but we weren't too concerned until we were pulled over along with cars who were following behind us. A very nice policeman advised us that there was a new 'no right turn sign' and issued a €25 fine with profuse apologies. The official entry is now round the back of the car park area.
Heads up re. right turn into Limassol Mall car park
Re: Heads up re. right turn into Limassol Mall car park
Snap. Exactly the same happened to me last month. First visit there and didn’t really know where I was going and followed the directions of my passenger who’d been turning right there for years. At the time I said “there’s a solid white line here”, but ignored my own advice and then they pounced on us, and the two in front of us, as we turned in. No idea how long the No turn sign has been there, but it would be a really cheap fix to make it much more difficult than it is.
Entirely my fault as I’m behind the wheel so 100% my responsibility. From the coffee shop I could see the no right turn but it did strike me that as a first time visitor, I’d have no idea how to get in properly as the officer described to me at the time - to the end of the road turn right and effectively drive round the building to the McDonalds entrance.
We only went there because we were very early for my friends appointment. Lesson learned - drive slower!

After a few years of not travelling that way, I’ve done 4 Nicosia/ Limmasol trips in the last month, on 3 out of 4 trips someone has been pulled over by the SBA police on the exit of the tunnel heading back towards Paphos, so worth being careful along there.
