Everyone on board was evacuated safely, the expensive cars are replaceable, Co2, Argon, or a Halon substitute are ideal for a fire smothering agent on board most ships. Not however, on a vessel of this type, the large area car decks with lots of ventilators would nullify the gas suppression. A new method of dealing with electric car battery fires has to be found, if indeed that was the cause of the blaze, it may have been caused by any one of a number of reasons.

're link , I had read a few articles on the event but I don't know how to post a link , when somebody explained a while ago it wasn't using chrome on an android tablet so it did not help. I realise the cars are replaceable and this was not my concern, I did comment on the toxic smoke coming from the ship.

You did refer to toxic smoke but there was no mention of a ship.

I guess the " Hot Hatch " must be back in fashion ! Looking by the toxic smoke and fumes I don't think these cars are low immision, maybe a battery pack overheated and caught fire? This does seem to be a weakness in EVs. Apparently if you put water on a burning lithium battery it doesn't help, seems a bit like Greek fire to me .

I assumed (incorrectly) from the post you initially made that it was an electric car or model.
It wasn't helped that by directly below your post was a photo of an attractive young lady on a dating site.
One of the annoying random adverts which pop up and I report to Google as "as covered content".

And now I know what happened.

Incidentally, a cruise ship was also on fire off Corfu and had to be evacuated of all its passengers and crew were evacuated.
If you had mentioned a ship, I would have been even more confused....
