Re: Used Telephone poles?
There are currently two near me. They have been there since Tuesday and I don’t know whether or not they have plans to retrieve them. I live in the town. PM for details if you are interested.

Make sure you have permission to remove them from the owners, or you will have the old bill knocking on your door.Ancient History wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 6:23 am There are currently two near me. Re: Used Telephone poles?
When we bought our house some 13/14 years ago it was just an old shack. We had it extensivley extended and modernised. So far so good.It had at the time a land line and the connecting telegraph pole is on our land. After the renovations the phone people said we could no longer have a land line unless we went underground rendering the telegraph pole obsolete. And there it still stands.Numerous requests for them to take it down as gone ignored.I many times sit on our patio looking at the pole and think could i take it down myself and use for firewood. So there it proudly stands and probably will do for ever, unused, unloved, and a b%*&dy eye sore.

The problem is that it probably is still owned by the telephone company

Exactly, apart from the smell, the smoke is probably toxic!
Better use such a pole in a hard landscaping project. But maybe check first to find out who the owner is!

They are not on my land but are nearby and have been left at the side of a small road. They are not my responsibility!WHL wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 8:40 amMake sure you have permission to remove them from the owners, or you will have the old bill knocking on your door.Ancient History wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 6:23 am There are currently two near me. I didn't say they were your responsibility, I was just giving some advise to everyone, to make sure they got permission before taking stuff, someone I know saw a bunch of pallets on an industrial estate he thought were dumped, he wanted them, as he was doing things in his garden, unfortunately for him the factory had not dumped them but had left them outside of their fence for collection , their cctv got his double cab no. Plates and the police came a knocking on his door, they were going to charge him for stealing the palettes, he got off only because he paid the owner a large sum, ( more then the pallets were worth). Im guessing electricity poles are worth a few bob also.Ancient History wrote: ↑Sun Feb 13, 2022 6:19 amThey are not on my land but are nearby and have been left at the side of a small road.
