Jo, the pie lady
Re: Jo, the pie lady
Lloyd, I have been unable to pm you as apparently I have insufficient posts to qualify to use this feature. Would you please be kind enough to let me know Jo's contact details as her pies look delicious. Many thanks.

It is an anti-spam feature. You don't have to make many posts to qualify. It is just to stop spammers from signing up and bombarding everybody with junk.
I agree though, the pies look lovely.

On the subject of Pano Akourdalia market, have you tried Marina's pork scratchings? Better than anything I've ever tried in the UK, let alone here. The Akourdalia market is terrific.

Going back to Jo the pie-lady, how long has she been around? I ask as in Tala many years ago we had a mobile pie wagon (or whatever you call it - bit like a mobile library) once a week and her pies were wonderful. Then she disappeared off the scene.

Re: Jo, the pie lady
My sister in law used to bake pies from home which were then collected and distributed for her as she doesn't drive..... I don't recall which area she was living at the time though - hence my question to David.

Re: Jo, the pie lady
This seems to be an old thread? What’s happened to the Akourdaleia Market, has it reopened?
And what about Jo the Pie Lady?
Thanks for any info.

Hello Lloyd
Thank you so much for the information. I had in mind doing something like your goodself i.e. buy several and freeze. Also a friend of mine is very interested and she caters for more than myself.

Re: Jo, the pie lady
I heard this recently and thought I would pass it on.
I was at Peyia village market a week past Sunday and
we went to get some of Jo's pies, but she was not there.
I enquired with some of the other stall holders and they told
me that Jo has just had a baby, so obviously she is unavailable.
Best wishes to Jo and the new baby.
Hopefully will see you at a market soon.

I hope my freezer is large enough for my order from Jo
which I'm expecting to get this week.

Proper bakewells aren't covered in icing. This was a shock to us when we visited Bakewell. All these years, Mr Kipling had been lying to us!

Don't think the Missus will be that keen on having the hairs on her chest plucked. Might just stick to tradition and have my tart au natural.

The one in Bakewell without icing is known as Bakewell Pudding. The one with I ing is Bakewell Tart.
