If only I'd warned...
Re: If only I'd warned...
Morning Trev
Here's a link to the coverage of the shortage of chemicals for sewage treatment. I hope this works.
The chemicals they use to treat drinking water come from the Netherlands and that's a major concern. If you type in sewage treatment chemical shortage on Google and you'll see lots of links from the Telegraph to the Daily Mail.
https://www.thenational.scot/news/19567 ... -shortage/
Another link I posted was in relation to the 350 million a week promised on the side of the bus and an interview between Nick Ferrari of LBC and Savid Javid the Health Minister. Again if you go to Google the interview is on YouTube.
https://m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/amp/entr ... 9c01d8273/
Hope this clarifies points made.
I worked up your neck of the woods from Carnforth round to Barrow and then into the Lake District, very beautiful part of the world.

But it's not been paid yet so there must be a nice little nest egg stashed away somewhere or the 350 million highlighted on the side of the bus was just another one of the many lies told by the Brexit leaders and according to Savid Javid it's already been spent on Covid (watch interview view with Nick Ferrari)Jimgym wrote: ↑Thu Sep 09, 2021 12:03 amI’m not suggesting anything of the sort but a bill is a bill and has to be paid from somewhere.Jim B wrote: ↑Wed Sep 08, 2021 9:22 pmThey haven't negotiated and agreed the 40 billion bill yet so I don't think that's the reason.
Also the 40 billion is to pay for projects that the UK signed up to and are also projects that it benefits from similar to the Merssy Estury Pollution Elevation Scheme.(MEPAS I worked on) that are still in progress.
It's not just an exgratia payment as your'e suggesting.

Jim B. Many thanks for taking the trouble to find the links and put them on. It does indeed clarify the points you were referring to.

I worked with a lad from Barrow and he always insisted he was a Lancastrian and the old maps showed Lancashire going up as far as Coniston. Below is a link to old maps of Lancashire; very interesting (well I think so)

You won't get a response because generally people are reluctant to admit they made a mistake. Over the last few days we've posted numerous links to items that proves Brexit isn't the road to sunlit uplands and unicorns and not one response to either agree or disagree. The only comment is they're bored with the whole thing which to me is a bit like Nero fiddling while Rome burns.
The UK is lurching from crisis to crisis and lie to lie and Brexit supporters don't say a word about it.
Re: If only I'd warned...
Possibly because people are fed up of CONSTANTLY having to defend their reason for voting as they did. That, and people not feeling obliged to comment on every single Brexit post as if it was their sole responsibility to defend it.

Well I've struggled to think of anything good which has come from it. So much so, I searched whether Brexit has been a success.

I believe that the dumping of sewage is being allowed because Australia want the UK to drop some climate promises as part of the trade deal, A deal only worth about 34 million per year

Britain is to host the Climate Change Conference (Cop 26) in Glasgow in a few months!

It's long, contains lots of current information and references but this blog article is worth a read as it covers so much more than gets discussed here.

Re: If only I'd warned...
Hi Les. I agree with you. My sister told me her reason for voting leave was because she wanted things to be the way they were. Now considering six of us were brought up in next to poverty in a two up two down with an outside toilet I couldn't really get my head around it. When I asked for a tangible benefit she couldn't provide one reason and it goes on.Les Bean wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 8:43 amAs far as I can recall, reasons for voting to leave were mainly non specific such as "taking back control" "regaining sovereignty" getting away from Brussels' control,
If I'm wrong here and I missed other more tangible reasons for voting I'm prepared to admit that I've been mistaken, something I suspect not everyone is prepared to do
Re: If only I'd warned...
James O’Brien, admittedly a Remainer, interviewed hundreds of people on Brexit and when quizzed deeply, most admitted to either it being about immigration or money… the bus….
Interestingly, a poll of English voters now puts Labour above the Conservatives for the first time. - the reason? The National Insurance tax rise…. So when faced with any tax increase, they would now go against Johnson.
It’s futile asking for benefits of leaving the EU, other than leaving the EU. There are none. The nonsense about Sovereignty etc. Is just that, nonsense. We had almost total control in our position in the EU, but Tories dislike ordinary changes, like equality, worker protection, environmental laws etc. Etc.
