Blood tests

Post by Sadie »

Ok, so as I have a chronic health condition I have several specialists helping to manage my condition
My question is, can 2 lots of bloods be loaded onto Gesy at the same time?
I have bloods referral from my endocrinologist, but not until November
I will need bloods for my rheumatologist in September which haven’t as yet been loaded onto the system
I seem to remember last time my GP ordered a fasting test for diabetes & cholesterol, the lab used my rheumatologist referral, which naturally weren’t the correct bloods 🤷🏼‍♀️
If you never ask the question, the answer will always be....no

I would suggest that you get your two doctors to provide you with the list of tests and to give the two lists to the vampire with the instruction that you want copies sent to both doctors. This assumes that both doctors accept the results from the same laboratory.

I have had this problem in recent months. Two different consultants ordered Blood tests. When I went for the tests they did ALL the tests not just for one consultant.

I now have to make sure when I go for tests (next Monday) that I point out to them that I only want the 9 tests doing for the Rheumatologist, and NOT the ones for the Urologist..

It did work telling them last time, and of course I only pay 9 euros for the 9 tests.
By the way, after trying one or two Labs, I go to the Iasis Hospital now and they are BRILLIANT. They also Email the results to me and I usually get them within 2 to 3 hrs

That simply will not work, as I stated in my original post, my endocrinologist wants bloods in November
My rheumatologist wants bloods in sept
They’re totally different specialisms, and neither one can request bloods for that particular field.
I don’t want to get the wrong bloods for the wrong specialist

Cheers Trev,
I have the referral number from the endocrinologist, I’ll make sure I get the referral number for the rheumatologist also
I’ve been going to the new lab opposite Paphos home market
Nice and quiet, very efficient and pain free, they also emailed me the results

Sadie, do you not also get a 'printout sheet' from each different specialist / consultant, because I do.

I used to, but now they’re just put ‘on the system ‘

Strange, as I always get a printout. Different doctors work different ways I suppose

trevnill got it right. just make sure when they are taking blood they are only taking blood for the imminent specialist appointment and not the one further down the line.

I have 10 on the system for next week, but I also have 3 on the system for next January. I certainly don't want those 3 doing early :-)

The problem occurred when I went for blood tests and despite showing the form, they did blood tests for two doctors. One set was to see a doctor in a few days :-), but the other was for a doctor in a few months. :-(
So when I wanted the blood tests for the second doctor they had already been done months too early..
I now make a point of making sure how many tests are on each form. Tomorrow I need 10 blood tests :-)

mouse wrote: Sun Aug 22, 2021 7:14 pm Under gesy I get a printout blood test request it lists what is to be tested for , each doctor gives me a printed list for their purpose, the items to be tested are different, no problem, I present the correct list at the correct time and all is fine , sorry don't really understand your problem. If you go private I can understand wanting to save money , where in gesy you pay 5 tom10 euro , private it could be a hundred.
My problem is, as I stated in my original post, I do not want to get the wrong bloods done for the wrong specialist
I do not get printed referrals as my specialists prefer to enter details onto the system, saving paper.
I have the referral number for my endocrinologist and I’ll get the referral number for the rheumatologist bloods when I ring next week

Sadie, It's simple. When you go to have your blood test, tell them which set of tests you want done and tell them that any other tests that might appear on the system will be done at a date closer to the appointment you have for that specialist

I agree with what Varky has said. I had my blood tests done this morning at the Iasis, and I told them ONLY to do the ten for the Rheumatologist and to leave the rest on the system.
The tests were done around 10-30 and the results were emailed to me by 12-30.

Remember when we went to the General between 7am and 9 am and queued with a little numbered ticket in your hand. Then you queued again to have the blood sample taken..
Then at one time you could go back for the results after 12 noon...
We can laugh at it now, but it was terrible at the time :-(
