Private Medical Insurance
Private Medical Insurance
With Gesy now being more or less fully operational are there any reasons in keep existing plans or purchasing new policies because as far i can tell Gesy offers the same medical services at greatly reduced rates.

Re: Private Medical Insurance
Some consultants are still not in Gesy, or have been in and come out again. So if you need to see one of them you need to Pay. Presumably, if you have health insurance you would claim the amount back from them

Re: Private Medical Insurance
Unless you have out patient insurance you will still pay to see consultants
We did not renew Health Insurance as all of my wife's consultant's are now in GESY.
Am quite prepared to pay should that position change ....

Re: Private Medical Insurance
My Cyprus policy for private health insurance is for day case surgery and for inpatient treatment. Its cheaper that way. It also covers me for private health care when I'm in the UK, should I need it...
With such long waiting lists for NHS treatment, I hope to be able to continue to afford the premiums..

Re: Private Medical Insurance
Yes, even in Gesy you do have to pay to see a consultant. But it is only 6 euros.

Re: Private Medical Insurance
In the eastern forum there was a recent report of someone in need of an allergologist who was told to wait for more than a year for an appointment. And there seemed to be no alternative within Gesy.
Re: Private Medical Insurance
Well, I don't suppose that allergologists grow on trees in this country and they have a hell of a lot of work to do with pine and olive pollens, amongst others, causing frequent problems. I know a few people who have regular problems in the appropriate seasons and I don't suppose that the PM10 dust that is common is not causal, possibly also the PM2.5 and PM1. The latter dust can even affect the alveoli.
Re: Private Medical Insurance
As an aside I have self diagnosed that I have an allergy to the Mosfilla trees locally, neighbours either side of my property have them and when they go into bloom late Dec and into Jan, despite being attractive for the many Small Tortoiseshell butterflies, they don't arf make my eyes water. Notwithstanding that I do find the fruits can be very tasty.
Re: Private Medical Insurance
Dee, your policy sounds interesting. Would you mind telling me the name of your insurance company?Kili01 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 01, 2021 3:49 pm My Cyprus policy for private health insurance is for day case surgery and for inpatient treatment. Re: Private Medical Insurance
I had a procedure carried out at the Hippocratic Clinic last year. My rheumatologist and the surgeon, who visited from Evangelismos Hospital to carry out the procedure, were both in GESY but the clinic was not, so I had to pay a fee to 'rent' the operating theatre. It never occurred to me to ask in advance. Just something to be aware of.
Re: Private Medical Insurance
Hi Sunspot,
My medical insurance is with Universal Life, Multicare.
There are difference levels of care. Client selects what's appropriate for them.
They have several agents in Paphos who can offer advice.
