This is a reply forwarded to an Admin today on one of the Paphos FB groups from the Ministry of Health:

'According to the recent data, the Cyprus government does not recognise nor accept the AstraZeneca vaccines that have been made in India and have certain batch numbers.
If you are interested in travelling to Cyprus, you will be treated as a non-vaccinated traveller...'

It goes on to state that people from some destinations will have to have a PCR test depending on the categorization of the country and gives this link:

I telephoned the flight pass help line yesterday and they confirmed that there is no restriction on the AZ vaccine regardless of batch numbers or place of manufacture.

There was a UK government minister on BBC news the other morning, possibly Grant Shapps, who said that the government was aware of this confusion. Apparently the confusion arose because the same Indian manufacturer supplies another COVID drug that isn’t approved but the AZ they manufacture is.

One of my vaccines has the AZ Indian batch numbers but it is registered as the Vaxzevria vaccine and not the Covisheild vaccine (which is the one that is not approved in EU) on my NHS COVID passport. I have recently had a Cyprus flight pass approved and my certificate was checked at Paphos airport with no issues.

I think it has already been said on this post, there is a lot of confusion, if you have the covishield vaccine there is a problem but the uk COVID pass states the vaxzevria vaccine manufactured by AZ AB not AZ India. I think it’s about time the EU/UK government sorted this shambles and made it clear this has now been up in the air since end June.

I can’t understand why the information posted by galexinda does not appear on any of the gov. Sites. Nothing on flight pass sites and nothing on Cyprus protocols.

I think the confusion is that they accept vaccines that are approved by the EMA, AZ Vaxzevria is approved, AZ Covishield is not. The Indian batch numbers used in the UK are on the COVID pass as Vaxzevria with the manufacturer as AZ AB and not Covisheild so the question really is, is the Vaxzevria vaccine wherever it is manufactured OK?
Just needs the governments to align and sort out the confusion.

Hi all thanks for the info have phoned the help line and they said no problem coming in
as long as you have had jab regardless of where it was made.

so some times you ask a question and you end up more confused than ever still not sure if you
need a pcr to come in or not

This posted by Steve on the eastern forum, should clear up the confusion.

“Ok similar question popped up on FB so after checking I posted
this which may help:

Ok I can understand the confusion with names/batch numbers etc..

So some batch numbers for AZ vaccines undertaken in the UK were
published in the media - these relate to AZ vaccines that were
manufactured in India.

However the NHS have said that "all AstraZeneca vaccines given in
the UK (including those appearing in the batches...) appear on the
NHS COVID Pass as Vaxzevria."

Vaxzevria is accepted in Cyprus and listed on the Cyprus FlightPass
site.

So if you've had the AZ Vaccine in the UK and are concerned check
your NHS COVID Pass and see what the name of the vaccine listed
is. “

Just further clarification,

Email from Cyprus flight pass.

Our website clearly stated that we accept this kind of vaccines Vaxzervia Vaccine (AstraZeneca) and we don't have instructions to exclude any batch numbers https://cyprusflightpass.gov.cy/en/vacc ... passengers and latest https://www.pio.gov.cy/coronavirus/uplo ... nglish.pdf
Thank you

Covishield is not accepted but vaxevria is. The nhs have said that only vaxervia was given, it appears on your nhs vaccination record.

I have summarised the above in this article.

Please don't post further information on Covishield without first reading the articles linked in this thread. It will only confuse the issue.

Hope I won't get told off by Dominic but I have just seen this email posted on Ask Anything Paphos FB group:

''For anyone else who may have received a Vaccination from one of the Indian Batches.
I have just received this email.

Dear,
From now on, as per the recent data, the Cyprus government does recognize and accept the AstraZeneca vaccines that have been made in India, named (a) AstraZeneca-COVISHIELD (Serum Institute of India) and (b) AstraZeneca-SKBio (Republic of Korea) for entering the Republic of Cyprus and also for safe pass purposes.
Those travellers can be considered as fully vaccinated and travel to Cyprus regarding the information that you can find in this link https://cyprusflightpass.gov.cy/en/vacc ... passengers (those passengers must be vaccinated in the countries that are stated in the link).
Kind Regards
Epidemiological Surveillanc''
