The headline is a tad misleading, as the Epicentre was North West of Limassol.

Actually very misleading as it has nothing to do with Nicosia. Epicentre was 5 km from Stavros Psokas forest station (Polis area), however 3 km within Nicosia boarders....

According to the earthquake app on my phone / tablet, it was a magnitude 4.5, with an epicentre at 10km depth and 23km to the NE of Polemi, where on this occasion I didn’t feel a thing.

Whether you feel it or not tends to be dependent upon what you were doing at the time.
We always found if you were moving around either inside, outside or inside a vehicle it was very rare to feel the tremor.
Lying or sitting down was usually the times we felt them.

There were two really good ones I remember. One at work on the 3rd floor of an older building in Limassol by Makarios roundabout (where the big Santa's head was erected at Christmas). It was the only time me and another lady in the office were undecided if we should leave as the building had a twisting motion rather than the side to side vibration we had experienced in the past. We stayed, although did discuss sitting in the stairwell as these are the parts which are still left standing should there be a collapse. When we looked down through the windows afterwards, all of the residents of other buildings nearby were out in the street looking upwards...

The other happened just as I'd stepped through the front door of our house when the whole house just rumbled like there was an express train passing quickly through a station. The vibrations followed right to left with a huge sharp jolt at the end.
That one it turned out was up near Gerasa.

I would have liked to add a seismograph to my weather display but even the cheapest ones that give good results cost well into the hundreds of euros. Significant earthquakes are so rare, now, that I could never justify that kind of price.
