Don't be so precious. For a start, I will happily argue with HiC when the situation arises. I just scrolled through the posts and his was the last one I saw before I got to the bottom that was relevant to what I wanted to say. It makes more sense to refer to a post that other people can easily see rather than refer to a post earlier in the conversation. Had your and HiCs posts been transposed I would have referred to you instead.

I am fairly happy to use local alternatives to British brands (with maybe one exception as no one has yet equaled Heinz baked beans for taste)
BUT, my cats are definitely not impressed that I can't get Felix food for them now - I have tried all of the other brands of wet cat food but end up throwing it away.

Back in the day we found Heinz beans too expensive and started with other brands, we found Campangia to be good but not quite as as good. After a few years I tried Heinz again and found them far too sweet, so I went back to the Italian stuff. I now have Heinz no sugar beans and they are just right for me, but for how long, who knows

I have difficulty digesting local village bread which can be heavy. Have been told that the local flour contains a higher level of gluten, than English bread flours. However, a dietitian told me to try sourdough bread, which I have found here as one bakery makes it. This suits me better.I keep it in a plastic bag in the fridge where it keeps quite well.
I see no reason why one shouldn't buy some English food products, though at present they are in short supply. I eat what I enjoy, whether it be local or imported. I have some Marmite at present which I am trying to eke out and Heinz baked beans, while hoping that more will arrive in due course.
I eat out in a variety of restaurants, both tavernas, Chinese, Japanese, Indian. But still think that the UKCA with Debbie, does the best Sunday roast....

I do enjoy Marmite but if it cannot be sourced for great periods, I can do without. As for Sourdough bread, I prefer that to anything else, with the possible exception of German/Polish rye bread.
