Western politicians accused Belarus on Monday of state piracy amounting to a "warlike act", searching for a way to retaliate that would match the gravity of the offence after Minsk forced an airliner down and arrested a dissident journalist....

IMHO, the UN should totally sanction Belarus, forbidding all members any contact , diplomatic or otherwise, with it. No trade, close all roads/rail/air. Isolate the country for the pariah it is!

I posted about this earlier in the Beyond Cyprus section, its high time the EU and others stood up to these Despots, and put the strongest penalties on them.

As long as Putin remains, nothing will change in his friends fiefdom. As for the EU taking a strong stance, yeah right! The world at large had a chance when he lost the recent election but it is too late now IMHO
Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day.

I've just been reading an article in the Guardian where some of the passengers have now been interviewed. They say it was very scary as the plane descended suddenly and very sharp with the only announcement being an emergency diversion.
Also, the man who was forcibly removed said it was him they were after.
I don't think any of us would feel totally at ease with looking out of the side window of our flight and suddenly facing a MiG fighter jet alongside.

While this probably was an act of piracy let´s not forget that "the West" did the same when they forced the Bolivian president´s plane to land in Vienna because they thought Snowden to be on board.

Thanks. I was wondering if there had indeed been a similar action by the West.jeba wrote: ↑Tue May 25, 2021 4:10 am While this probably was an act of piracy let´s not forget that "the West" did the same when they forced the Bolivian president´s plane to land in Vienna because they thought Snowden to be on board.https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/b ... story.htmlBolivian President Evo Morales’s plane, forced to land in Austria because of suspicions that American fugitive Edward Snowden was on board, was permitted to fly home Wednesday, Bolivian and European authorities said.
