Tomorrow 13.5.21: Ceremony signing Paphos-Polis motorway contract

There is a short notice on the Facebook page Paphos-Polis highway:

CEREMONY FOR THE SIGNING OF THE CONTRACT FOR THE STUDY AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE PAPHOS-CITY ROAD

On Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. The signing of the contract for the design and construction of the Paphos-Polis Chrysochous road will take place in the courtyard of the City Hall, in the presence of the Minister of Transport, Mr. Giannis Karousou.
Those citizens who wish, can attend the ceremony.
It is noted that all the measures provided by the health protocols will be observed

So it looks like the long delayed project will finally start soon....hallelujah

I am just slightly surprised that the contract is not just for the construction of the road but also for its design..
I thought the design had already been sorted.
Maybe it is just the way it is worded because I can't see how you can have a contract to build something if you do not have the finished plans.
But it is very good news that it is all going forward

And before anybody gets up in arms, it isn't a 3 lane motorway.

When we came over here some 20 years ago we where told by various agents that a marina was going to be built at banana bay.Any news on this anybody?

They still need to finish the repairs on it above Giolou, though the hair-pin bend currently installed does act as a very good speed deterrent.

I am glad that this new road will happen finally after 20 years of struggle. I found on their Facebook site one of the activities from local youths, but also members of the Government, in support of this road. Even our Paphos Deputy Mr.Christos Makariou, one can see at this video( 2.07 m), joining in to the Marathon of 215 km from Polis to Nicosia....
