Re: The Edit Facility
According to a Yougov poll No are going to win by a landslide.

Re: The Edit Facility
It has been done before, otherwise I wouldn't have taken the actions I did.
Anyway, it is clear from the vote that people like the ability to edit their post, so I will reintroduce the facility, and amend the terms so that anybody found abusing the facility will be banned. This will not apply retroactively so everybody has a clean slate.

Re: The Edit Facility
1. There was not enough time for members to vote.
2. As a result the "turnout" was low. only 2 of us voted "no".
I would suggest re-opening the poll for say 5 days to give all chance to vote. Not everyone logs in daily!

Re: The Edit Facility
There's no point. I am happy to reintroduce editing with the caveat that abusers will get banned. I have already re-implemented the facility. Besides, banning editing had too many knock-on effects. There are sections where editing is very useful, such as the quizzes and informative posts that need updating, like OhSusana's travel posts.
In short, the ban was more hassle than it was worth.

Only 22 people voted, yet the thread has been viewed over 160 times. This would suggest that the vast majority of people don't actually care either way.

I thought he wanted a 5 minute time limit after which edits could not be made.Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2017 10:16 am CyprusGrump wanted Dominic (as owner of the forum) to do what he thought best. He has.

To quote a well known saying.....
you can please SOME of the people ALL of the time
you can please ALL of the people SOME of the time

you can't please ALL of the people ALL of the time.......

You can try, which Dominic was doing I thought.
As forum owner he doesn't have to "consult" over such issues, but he did.
Geoff.
P.S. How many registered members does the forum have?

It appears it was an overwhelming majority in any event.... we all know what that means folks.

On the contrary. You can still vote now if you want. The poll runs for a day. The only way I could stop it sooner is by deleting it.
Did you want to vote "No" then?
