Re: Coronavirus: Cyprus excluded from UK safe list travel study
Our family has a holiday booked for late May/ early June , balance due soon . Reluctantly we will all have to cancel / change the flights . Most of us cannot do quarantine . Some of us will try again for October , the rest are moving it to next year. It’s a sad decision for us, all the adults have had 2 vaccinations already , but the amber status will mean it’s a non starter . Some of us did get to Paphos last October so fingers crossed for the autumn .
Hope you all stay safe meanwhile and get your vaccine when available , there isn’t the vaccine hesitancy in the UK that there is in some European countries , 97% of the older age groups have taken up the offer in the UK , most have had the AZ one . Cases , deaths , and hospitalisations have since dropped like a stone .

No,
Unfortunately, Les, Cyprus has increasing case numbers and the hospitals are nearly full of Corona virus cases. Let's hope that the section of the population who are anti vacs will change their minds which would help.
And others would observe the health protocols instead of ignoring them, which would also help.Easter will soon be upon us.

Sadly I think in the weeks after Easter we will see yet another rise in Covid 19 cases

I think you need to look at what's happening in Cyprus - The cases are getting progressively worse and as its the 20th of April today I think it will take a miracle to reverse this trend before 17th May - If it keeps on track the way it is at the moment it will not be long before it is on the UK travel Red list

We made the decision to follow what happened last year and have booked a package holiday, using our previously held cancelled holiday deposit credit with easyJet Holidays.
We're going to mainland Spain but not until towards the end of September.
If things change and there's any kind of quarantine at either end, the holiday will be cancelled by the operator and we will be refunded.
Either way, we don't have to pay until 28 days before the departure date or we can do as we did last year and our deposit will be held as s credit for 12 months.
No way are we booking flights and accommodation as separate entities just now until things settle down more.

Nothing at all, But wishing isn't reality.

Les Bean, your first post could have been misleading to others. We (who are living in Cyprus) are reporting the situation as it is serious at present. Of course we all hope the situation re covid cases will improve. Time will tell. Vaccination is on going here.

Les. It’s not misleading at all.
Of more concern is the amount of people who read this ‘study’ and are already treating this as fact, which it’s not until confirmed by the relevant U.K. authorities.
Sadly though, my own gut feel is that the U.K. will, initially at least, place Cyprus in the Amber category. The potential constraints that could impose on people in terms of testing / vaccination/ self isolation on return to U.K. potentially makes travel impractical for a large majority of people regardless of how ready Cyprus is to allow people in anyway.
