Dosnt suprise me, I had a heart check up recently, and having a chat with the Dr, he told me he was against vaccinations etc and it was a conspiracy etc, I kid you not, later that evening having a conversation with a family, member who is a consultant Doctor, they were shocked and told me in no uncertain words to change my DoctorHappy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:09 am It defies belief that front line health workers can refuse to be vaccinated. The Cyprus government says it is powerless to force them. This is ridiculous. How many folks have gone into hospital Covid-free, only to catch it and subsequently die? Hospitals are known to be harbours of infection.
Covid is a worldwide epidemic which is only slowly being contained thanks to the virus. New rules should be made to apply with regard to front line health workers, who are in a position to pass the virus on to innocent parties.
In the UK it is becoming the norm for care home workers to have to be 100% vaccinated, some care home insurers insist on it. This should be the rule everywhere; if you are not prepared to be vaccinated then you should be removed from patient-facing duties and relegated to other forms of employment within the hospital.
Just how 50% of front-line workers do not believe in a vaccine which is proving it's worth daily, escapes me.

Yes. However, isn´t there a shortage of nurses? How to replace those removed?Happy in Cyprus wrote: ↑Thu Mar 25, 2021 11:09 am In the UK it is becoming the norm for care home workers to have to be 100% vaccinated, some care home insurers insist on it. In the UK it is becoming a condition of employment for care home staff to have the vaccination. As for shortages of staff, there was a massive callout for retired staff to return and thousands of them did so. NHS frontline staff were some of the first to be vaccinated. My daughter, who works in an ICU, has had both jabs of the Pfizer variety.
It really does beggar belief that in Cyprus the nurses etc have only been vaccinated to 50%.

Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day.

Hospitals are a breading ground for infections; you have large numbers of people in the hospital buildings with infections of all kinds.
Keeping the building clean is a major task in it’s self!
My cousin works for the health service in the UK and she told me Covid was rife in the hospital where she worked in Sunderland.
She works in the dialysis unit and was transferred to the Covid ward where she court the Covid infection.
She had to isolate at home until she was clear of it, not easy when her dad has COPD in the same house, even her mother got it from her.
She has now been told to stay at home to protect her dad from getting Covid through her work.
The hospital staff here in Cyprus could be passing Covid on to god knows how many other people they meet during the day.

Shocking!
It's not a good time to even go inside a hospital at present, if the hospital staff haven't all been vaccinated.

Even as far back as 2003 in the NHS trust where I worked any person in my department who refused to follow the infection control procedures would be removed from direct contact with patients.
Was impressed when I visited my accountant recently with the safety procedures she had in place - even had her current antigen test result slip on display.
Perhaps people should ask to see the vaccination record of a person before receiving any medical treatment if it is of that much concern?

My dentist recently wouldn't see me without a negative test result, she even had a cleaner go in before my appointment to clean everything including mopping the floor, this happened after I finished and the next one came in. Ok hospitals cant go to those extremes, but having everyone who works there should be the basic requirement

Is this a serious question? How many people enter a hospital everyday, are you seriously saying there should be an army of cleaners following every person that enters the hospital, mopping up every square foot of flooring as I said happened at my dentist .
Re: Coronavirus: Half of state healthcare workers unvaccinated, three who refused jab test positive
Impressed with the clinic I use for doctor visits, lab tests etc but even so I do my own 'cleaning' of places I am likely to touch with my hands - but then I do that wherever I go because I don't know who has been there before me. The staff have got used to me cleaning the door handles and the arms on the seat before I sit down. Have also been cleaning cutlery prior to using it when eating out for many years.

Even more important would be to eradicate aerosols from the air though. I hope she did that as well (airing, HEPA filtration spring to mind).
Re: Coronavirus: Half of state healthcare workers unvaccinated, three who refused jab test positive
I was sitting out side but she had some sort of blower going on , spraying a fine mist into the air, she turned it off when I went into the room

My dentist didn't go to such lengths, but the first time I went after the first lockdown, my temperature was taken, we all wore masks and patients had to wear disposable gloves. The dental surgery is very clean and all surfaces are wiped down between patients. My dentist wears full ppi.
