COVID-19: EU threatens to block jab exports to UK and other countries with high vaccination rates
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has threatened to block vaccine exports to the UK and other countries with markedly higher rollouts of coronavirus jabs.
The EU's delivery of COVID vaccines has been slower compared with the UK rollout, where nearly 25 million adults have now had their first dose.
What bunch of idiots running the EU and VDL is worst.
They are so vindictive. Its their own incompetence which has caused the problem.
They don't want to use the vaccine but want to stop others from having it.
Thank goodness the UK has left.

Personally I am happy to wait longer for mine if there are older or vulnerable people needing a vaccine - whoever’s fault it is and wherever in the world they are.

You all need to keep up as events in Europe are moving very quickly, The EU countries as a whole are desperately short of Covid vaccine. More worrying is the fact that many countries are on the verge of developing the 3rd wave of the virus. France. Germany, Italy and Spain.
Also Cyprus where the number of cases of the virus has risen sharply in the last few days, particularly in Limassol. The State hospitals, which now include Paphos General are full. All bar Paphos now have Covid wards. Paphos is now trying to move some patients into private hospitals in order to free up a ward for Corona virus patients.
So, as can be seen the situation in the EU is increasingly worrying. Hence the need to get more vaccine for the EU. Britain has already vaccinated 25 Million, with most of the older and clinically vulnerable already vaccinated, while in Europe very few have had the vaccine as yet,
Whether what the President of the EU is doing is right or not, may be driven by desperation.

Then surely the sensible thing would be to speak to the UK Government and put a case forward instead of using the typical bullying tactics they have used all along.

When asked about the E.U. blocking the distribution on the U.K. tv this morning it was Interesting to hear the Greek Tourism Minister saying that Greece have continued to use the Oxford AstraZeneca because they’ve based their decisions on science and not politics.
Re: COVID-19: EU threatens to block jab exports to UK and other countries with high vaccination rates
The European Commission will send a letter to AstraZeneca as part of efforts to resolve a dispute with the Anglo-Swedish company over its supplies of COVID-19 vaccines to the bloc, a spokesman for the EU executive said on Thursday.
The company is required under its contract with the EU to deliver 300 million doses by the end of June, but it said last week it aimed to ship only 100 million, due to production problems and export restrictions.

So let me get this straight, the EU is complaining that they don't have enough AZ vaccine, but they have it's use on hold as it may cause thrombosis.

That! And let´s not forget that the EU hasn´t imported any approved vaccines yet but exported a lot (including to the UK).Kili01 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 17, 2021 8:44 pm You all need to keep up as events in Europe are moving very quickly, The EU countries as a whole are desperately short of Covid vaccine. An interesting response from Pfizer stating that they rely on the UK for raw materials for their vaccine and that any blockage will reduce the supply of said vaccine to the EU.
Ticking away, the moments that make up a dull day.
