Roadworks at Harbour - Webcam outage

Post by Dominic »

Fans of our webcams might think that the Harbour is a bit quiet at the moment. In actual fact they are doing roadworks at the moment and there is no internet.

Normal service will resume once they've finished their work.

Anyone know what the 'work' involves or how long it might take? Mind you any official estimate usually needs to be doubled or tripled! How can one access the shops along the street which is blocked at the Mall roundabout?

Can't you ever make a remark without it being bitchy?

Re accessing the shops between the Mall and the harbour area, it is quite difficult. I usually go to the Harbour Paps around once a week.. At the Mall roundabout the road to the harbour has a sign saying 'Diversion' with an arrow pointing to the right... It Is A Lie !!! It is not a diversion it should be a road closed sign.. I followed in the direction of the arrow and there are no other directions..
I returned to the roundabout and continued to the big church and turned right.. If you know your way around those streets then you can get to Paps. But you have to make a right turn where it is not allowed..

You are right about that diversion sign. I was doing a 360 film from Paphos to Coral Bay the other day and came to exactly the same conclusion.

Hi Trev, when you turn right at the big church at the end of the road there a sign pointing left to the Post office just follow that road and you will come out on Posidonas Avenue opposite the Almerya Hotel then just turn right to the harbour.

Dominic,
I dislike your use of the word 'bitchy' about my post; which it wasn't intended to be, just my dry sense of humour about 'elastic times to get any works completed,'
Shutting the road to the harbour is inconvenient to many. Not least the busses and it will be to tourists. Thats when we have any. Much of Europe seems to be red zones this year. Also Brits are now being told not to travel abroad this year for fear of bringing a new variant of the virus with them to the UK.when they return..
Dee

PS Thanks Trev for your suggestion re finding an alternative route to the harbour road shops, I'll try your suggestion.
