Aphrodite's Rock

Post by Dominic »

APHRODITE'S ROCK

According to one legend, this rock is the site of the birth of the goddess Aphrodite, perhaps owing to the foaming waters around the rock fragments, and for this reason it is known as Aphrodite's Rock.[Gaia (Mother Earth) asked one of her sons, Cronus, to mutilate his father, Uranus (Sky). Cronus cut off Uranus' testicles and threw them into the sea.

That's gotta hurt.

We filmed this with our drone, as part of a Valentine's Day Blog. We will post a link to the blog itself once it is published.

Lovely drone video Dominic, thank you. First time that I could see how the rock locks from the seaside. Great!

Just to remember how Aphrodite's Rock looked a couple of month before Corona time....

I like the video very much but, sorry, less so the music. Was this chosen because of copyright issues? With a bit of diligent searching, one can often find good CC recordings. The one and only time that I had a problem with this was when I filmed a concert with Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. The legatees of Orff pounced on me like a ton of bricks, as representing the composer and not the performers. I withdrew the video from public viewing.

Let me add to them! Clair De Lune is my absolute favourite piano piece.
