Returning to work Covid tests

Post by carl01 »

Hello,
Does anyone know exactly which employees are supposed to get a Covid test to go back to work? The news articles I've seen are as clear as mud.
My wife does a bit of p/t cleaning around Paphos, works with a couple of others but doesn't see anyone around at the complexes etc. She's not a salaried employee.
Does she need a weekly negative test just for that?
Thanks if anyone knows.

Yes everyone working has to have one including those self employed even if they have been working during the lockdown. You also need the form B completing while working too which includes your social insurance no. If you are stopped you need to show this along with your negative test or risk a 300e fine.

Thanks for the replies, as someone spotted she's not actually returning to work, they never stopped. Hence the confusion. But looks like she needs a test anyway.

According to the PIO website it states that it is mandatory for all returning employees of reactivated businesses from the 1st of February to undergo the rapid antigen test. If it was everyone that works it would be an awful lot of tests each week.

Neil, yes the testing number will be high goi forward but physical presence is only being increased from 25% to 50% and testing requirements are on a sliding scale:

“The employer/business has the responsibility of coordinating repeat checks for employees, so that at any time and on a weekly basis they have a rapid test, as defined below:
— Businesses/services employing up to 3 people, all employees should be tested
— Businesses/services employing between 4 and 10 people, tests should be
carried out on at least 4 employees.
— Businesses/services employing more than 10 people, tests should be carried out
on at least 4 people or 20 % of employees, whichever is larger in number.”

All employees who return to work as well as teachers and all athletes over 12 must have a negative rapid test. The test needs to be repeated weekly.
